Therapists need therapy too.

Whether you are in school, are working towards licensure or have been in business for years, therapy as a therapist makes allows you to care for yourself to avoid burnout and also make conscious what lives within your own psyche. When we make things conscious it not only supports our work with clients but it gives you access to the ineffable core of yourself as we understand its essential place in our world and in the seat of the healer.

My therapeutic work draws from that of brilliant depth psychologists such as Carl Jung, James Hillman, Robert Romanyshyn, Marie-Louise von Franz, Donald Kalsched, and Lionel Corbett. I also draw from mysticism and religious studies scholars like William James, Rudolph Otto and Jeffery Kripal. Through my PhD research I have come to see therapy as a form of mysticism that returns soul to source. Therefore, my work stretches beyond the basic symptom management you were taught. I believe deeply in the soul’s desire to seek healing and wholeness and I see myself as a guide in my therapeutic work; seeing it less as a science of materialism and more as a tending of soul.

Our Souls Need Tending TOO

The meeting of two personalities is like contact of two chemical substances: if there is any reaction, both are transformed.
— Carl Gustav Jung

Know thyself

Being a therapist is a vocation, not a job. You didn’t get here because life was easy. What wounded you is where the light pours out into the world. The wounded healer archetype is a profound gift, and one that requires careful care and self awareness. If you have felt a sense of looming burnout, now is the moment to listen to your psyche. These times are trying for humanity and carrying the burden is heavy. We need time and saoce to put the burden down and allow our souls to speak.

leave a legacy

Graduate school taught you all the tools, modalities and space-holding you can imagine. Maybe now your intuition is telling you there is more. If you crave working with clients beyond the quantitative noise, psychodynamic therapy will provide a map for both your inner work and your work with your clients. We cannot ask our clients to do what we have not done. In other words, you must learn to traverse your own psyche and love its complexities.

 FAQs

What is your rate?

Sessions are $185 for 50 minutes. I reserve a select number of reduced fee spots for students. Please contact me for more details.

Do you offer Supervision for state licensing?

I do not offer supervision for state licensing. Please visit DORA for resources finding a LPC-Supervisor near you.

Do you take insurance?

I do not accept insurance. Insurance companies require me to diagnose clients, and then often allow only a certain number of sessions based on the diagnosis. Because of our healthcare industry and rules regarding preexisting conditions, I dislike having to formally diagnose a client, which will then stay on medical records. Insurance companies are also notoriously a hassle for clients and providers to manage.

I can offer out of network superbills that you then submit to your insurance company. Many insurance plans will reimburse clients either partially or fully for therapy sessions, you just need to call your provider to check your benefits.
